What Is Laser Therapy To Quit Stress & Anxiety?

Laser therapy to quit stress is a painless and safe technique for reducing the symptoms associated with stress, anxiety, and depression. In addition, laser therapy is increasingly associated with positive clinical outcomes and benefit for for such conditions as TBI (traumatic brain injury) and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder).

Gentle laser light is applied by Lazer Dave using sophisticated European Laser Technolgoy to energy points on the face, ears, hands, and feet. The goal is to naturally boost endorphins and help break the cycle of symptoms related to stress, anxiety and depression.

Laser therapy is also known as low level laser therapy (LLLT), photobiomodulation therapy (PBM), laser acupuncture and cold laser therapy.

How The Ottawa Laser Solutions Quit Stress Program Works…

Quitting and treating the symptoms related to stress and anxiety should begin by consulting with and following your doctor’s advice.

Add laser therapy and a few simple suggestions to promote:

  • Calmness and a balanced physiological state of relaxation
  • Reduced fatigue and more energy
  • Improved moods
  • Better quality sleep
  • Less dependency on pharmaceuticals and other drugs

Many people report that Dave’s laser treatments also promote increased motivation to make positive lifestyle changes such as becoming more active, getting outside, eating a healthier diet, and socializing more with family/friends. These changes can dramatically help you manage your stress and anxiety symptoms.

Note: laser therapy is intended to be an adjunct and not a replacement for your doctor’s advice. As such, you should always consult with your doctor regarding any changes in medications and concerns related to your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

About Stress

Stress can be divided into two categories, healthy and unhealthy. Healthy stress can be identified as stress that increases the body’s ability to perform well under short or medium term pressure. Examples of healthy stress include reacting quickly in dangerous situations, working towards a deadline, heightened awareness when driving, playing sports, taking a test or exam and speaking public.

Unhealthy stress is prolonged in nature. Some symptoms of unhealthy stress:

  • Muscle tension, headaches, neck and back pain.
  • Digestive issues such as diarrhea, indigestion, IBS, etc.
  • Fatigue
  • Heart palpitations, shortness of breath
  • Increased or decreased blood pressure, dizziness
  • Sugar cravings, weight gain
  • Decreased immune system, frequent colds or illness.

  • Excessive fear, restlessness, and worry (panic attacks)
  • High levels of anxiety even when resting or relaxing
  • Inability to concentrate
  • Insomnia or excessive sleep
  • Anger or aggression
  • Indifference or apathy
  • Irritability, moodiness, involuntary crying
  • Pessimism
  • Depression

About Anxiety

The signs and symptoms of anxiety vary and can sometimes even be similar to more generalized stress symptoms. Many are closely connected and it is possible that you could be experiencing more than one of these symptoms at a time.

  • Restlessness
  • Irrational Fear
  • Fatigue/Tiredness
  • Insomnia
  • Worry
  • Lack of Concentration
  • Panic Attacks
  • Agitation
  • Paranoia

About PTSD

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a mental health condition triggered by a stressful event, causing flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety.

Some symptoms associated with PTSD include:

  • Being easily startled or frightened
  • Always being on guard for danger
  • Self-destructive behavior, such as drinking too much or driving too fast
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Trouble concentrating
  • Irritability, angry outbursts or aggressive behavior
  • Overwhelming guilt or shame

About Depression

Depression is a mood disorder that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest and can interfere with your daily functioning.
Some symptoms associated with depression include:
  • Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness.
  • Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters.
  • Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports.
  • Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much.

Stress Hormones — Cortisol and Adrenaline

One common theme with the above concerns is that stress raises your levels of cortisol and adrenaline.

These stress hormones promote what is called the “flight or fight” response in your body. This state causes an increased heart rate, respiration, and high blood pressure. These increases make bodily organs work harder. Over prolonged periods, unhealthy stress can exhaust your adrenal glands, suppresses your immune system and more.

Reducing unhealthy stress is critical to not only managing anxiety, depression, PTSD, TBI but also combating conditions as heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and inflammation (i.e. arthritis). There are thousands of research articles on the connection between chronic stress and disease. It is estimated that 70-80% of all visits to physicians are for stress related illnesses.

Most people know that the best way to manage stress is to live an active and healthy lifestyle. Eating a well balanced diet, getting enough sleep and regular exercise are some of the main ways to do this.

However, many find starting or maintaining a regime of healthy stress coping behaviours difficult even with the help of their doctor, medication and/or professional counselling. Moreover, many people have adopted negative stress coping behaviours to deal with their stress levels (smoking, drinking, over-eating, other addictions, etc.) that they may find difficult to quit.

This is where Lazer Dave can help. Many people report Lazer Dave’s treatments helpful in managing stress, quitting addictions, treating pain, reducing inflammation and more.

Note: laser therapy is intended to be an adjunct and not a replacement for your doctor’s advice. As such, you should always consult with your doctor regarding any changes in medications and concerns related to your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Dave uses sophisticated laser therapy equipment from Germany in his treatments.

Benefits Of Laser Therapy To Quit Stress & Anxiety…

  • REDUCES STRESS SYMPTOMS. The goal of laser therapy is to improve moods, reduce feelings of anxiety, depression and other negative physical and emotional factors affected by a person’s stress levels.

  • PAINLESS. Though Dave’s treatment approach is similar to acupuncture — no needles are used to pierce the skin or tissues. Only gentle, low-intensity laser is applied over energy points. As such, children and those who are needle phobic can be rest assured that laser therapy is comfortable and relaxing

  • SAFE. Contraindications, minor risks or potential side effects associated with laser therapy are minimal to non-existent. Unlike many pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options, laser therapy is non-toxic, non-invasive and very safe.

  • HIGH SUCCESS RATE. Dave utilizes the LAZER DAVE ADVANTAGE approach which has a 90% success rate in helping people to quit addictions like nicotine. Dave has many years of clinical experience using laser therapy in his practice and completed 1,000s of treatments with successful outcomes including those for addiction, stress and pain.

  • INSTANT RESULTS AFTER FIRST TREATMENT. Many people report significant relief from their stress and anxiety symptoms after just one treatment. Others require more treatments(s) until noticeable results are realized.

  • LESS DEPENDENCE ON PHARMACEUTICALS. Laser can dramatically lessen or minimize your need for pharmaceutical drugs like anti-depressants, anti-anxiety medications and similar. Always consult with your family physician regarding any changes with medications.

  • INCREASED MOTIVATION FOR CHANGE. Because moods often improve for those suffering from stress, anxiety and depression — many people report that they have more motivation to make other positive lifestyle changes like eating healthier, exercising more and socializing.

  • LASER PROMOTES NEUROPLASTICITY. Clinical results and some leading anti-aging experts propose that near infrared laser light promotes accelerated healing and “plasticity” of neurological tissue (including the brain). This process is theorized to make it “easier” for the brain to adapt to new firing patterns which can dramatically promote new positive behaviors.

  • SLEEP BETTER. Many of Dave’s clients report better quality sleep after treatments utilizing laser for stress, anxiety and depression.

What Happens Before My First Laser Treatment To Quit Stress & Anxiety?

You will be asked to complete an online health history form and be emailed “Lazer Dave’s Guide For Stress & Anxiety”.  This guide contains important information and behavior change suggestions that will maximize the chances of you experiencing positive and lasting results for managing symptoms associated with stress and anxiety.

What To Expect On Your First Laser Treatment To Quit Stress & Anxiety…

When you come for your first laser treatment, you will get comfortable by lying down on a comfortable treatment table while listening to relaxing music.

Dave will explain the procedure to you and ask you to wear protective eyewear. Dave will use various laser light devices to treat “energy” points on the face, ears, neck, arms, wrist, hands, lower legs and feet.

You may feel a slight warm or pleasent tingling sensation through your body. As the points are stimulated with the laser light, your body should begin to release endorphins and other powerful neuro-chemicals which promote a pleasant sense of relaxation.

What to Expect After Your First Laser Therapy Treatment To Quit Stress & Anxiety

After your first Ottawa-Kanata-Nepean laser therapy treatment for quitting stress symptoms you will likely feel more relaxed, calm, and grounded. In addition to treating you with laser, Dave will review behavioral modification practices to promote longer term results.

While many find positive outcomes with 2-3 treatments, some may require additional “booster” treatments for longer term success and results. There is no guarantee of results, however Dave has a proven track record of success helping many people with laser for stress, pain, quitting addictions like smoking and more.

Scientific Evidence & Articles For Using Laser To Help Stress, Depression, TBI and More:

Despite what some doctor’s or skeptics might say about laser therapy, there is scientific evidence that supports the efficacy of stimulating energy points (acupuncture points) to help treat symptoms associated with stress, depression, PTSD, TBI and more:

Is Laser Therapy Safe? Are Their Side Effects?

Laser therapy is very safe. Most are surprised at how quickly they start to feel the results of laser and the positive outcomes for managing their stress and anxiety related concerns.

Unlike most pharmaceutical solutions and other therapeutic options, laser therapy is non-toxic, drug-free and non-invasive.

How Does Laser Therapy Help Me With Stress & Anxiety?

Low intensity laser is applied to specific energy points (acupuncture points) on the ears (auricular therapy), head, neck, hands, and feet in order to stimulate the release of neurotransmitters such as dopamine, serotonin, and endorphins. In addition laser helps to reduce your body’s production of cortisol and adrenaline (the main stress hormones). This often reduces the intensity of symptoms related to stress and anxiety.

In addition, there is a whole other field of research and positive clinical outcomes that increasingly support that near infrared (NIR) laser light promotes what is called neuroplasticity. Neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s ability to adapt to change. When we learn something new, we create new connections between the neurons in our brain. It is theorized that neuroplasticity can make it easier

Lazer Dave’s treatments promote neuroplasticity of the brain which can make adopting new behaviours to manage stress much easier

In addition to promoting neuroplasticity, laser therapy promotes reduced cortisol and adrenaline production and increased feel good endorphin release.

The end goal is to promote calmness, homeostasis and a balanced flight or flight response in your system, thereby reducing stress and anxiety levels for both the short and long term.

For more details on how laser therapy works for pain, inflammation and healing — please proceed to the Laser Therapy Explained page.

Is Laser Therapy Painful?

No. Only gentle laser light is utilized in your treatments. Most patients describe the treatment as extremely relaxing and pleasant. Some people feel no sensations, while others feel light pressure, tingling or a relaxing “heaviness” in their arms and legs.

How Many Laser Treatments Will I Need?

While many find positive outcomes with 2-3 treatments, some may require additional “booster” treatments for longer term success and results. There is no guarantee of results, however Dave has a proven track record of success helping many people with laser for stress, pain, quitting addictions like smoking and more.

How Much Do Treatments Cost?

The Ottawa Quit Stress & Anxiety Symptoms Laser Program costs $350 (+ HST). This entitles clients to 2 treatments (second treatment useable within 2 weeks of the initial appointment). Subsequent “booster” treatments (if required) are $85 (+ HST).

Please note: a $50 deposit is required towards the total cost of the program. You will be asked to make this deposit during registration for the program. The deposit policy is 100% NON-NEGOTIABLE.

Why A $50 Deposit?

Lazer Dave is often asked: “why do you require a $50 deposit for your laser therapy programs?”.

The short answer is that Lazer Dave is interested in only treating clients who are seriously committed. A $50 deposit demonstrates commitment.

How Long Are Treatments?

Individual treatment duration is typically 45 minutes for the first time, 30-45 minutes for subsequent treatments.
